CO Exhibitions presents Interior Violence, the first solo show of the artist Meg Lionel Murpyhy. Interior Violence imagines a far away realm in the not so distant future where womxn with traumatic pasts magically start to grow, and grow, and grow. Her technicolog, floral filled fantasy swirls around giant womxn draping their bodies over buildings, claiming them like thrones. Not only do they guard the structures, the womxn's anatomy transforms into an unconquerable, sovereign safe space. While a total and utter fantasy, Interior Violence explores a real moment after trauma when victims gather enough strength to grow through, if not beyond, the horrors of their pasts. A victim of extreme violence herself, Murphy's construction of this show performs an act of radical growth. Those in need of a little strength will find inspiration in the giant womxn too. |
